There is no honest universal number. A dual-drain model may empty quickly in a suitable home, but pipe size, slope, venting, restrictions and the amount of water all affect the result.
What a published number leaves out
- The starting water level and total volume.
- Whether one or both drains were connected and operating.
- The home’s actual drain condition.
- Whether the time ends at an empty tub or simply below the door threshold.
Our installation goal is a roughly 90-second unoccupied drain test under suitable conditions. It is an installation target, not a promise that every model and home will meet it or that every use will take the same time.
Why it matters
Most walk-in tubs require the bather to remain seated with the door closed until the water is below the door. Evaluate the complete routine: entry, filling, bathing, draining and exit.
Ask before buying
Request the selected tub’s specifications, the proposed drain connection, any plumbing changes and the actual measured result at handover. If a seller promises a time without seeing your home, ask what assumptions support it.
